Chief Diversity Officer Crystal Hardie Langston touches on Vanguard’s ongoing focus and engagement when it comes to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). From our mission’s focus on clients to the high standards to which we hold crew and leaders, we keep DEI foundational to our core purpose.
Producer: So, how’s it going?
Crystal Hardie Langston: Good to see everybody.
I have been at Vanguard for 16 years. Which is crazy to say. I’ve never been anywhere for 16 years. (laughs).
Question (on screen): How does Vanguard demonstrate its commitment to DEI?
Crystal Hardie Langston: At Vanguard, our aspiration for diversity, equity, and inclusion is that we would create an inclusive and equitable environment that represents a diverse community of talents that feel like they belong at Vanguard. It is mission-critical that DEI be central to how we think about the outcomes that we’re trying to drive for our clients. DEI is a key priority for our senior-most leaders, for our board of directors. Leaders and crew alike are beholden to a performance standard that includes one’s ability to create and nurture an inclusive environment and cultivate difference. And progress on DEI at Vanguard has had an impact on our compensation. To us DEI is an ongoing journey, and accountability is critical to the path forward.
