Vanguard Investor Choice
March 27, 2026
Vanguard is expanding its partnership with global fintech leader Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc., to leverage Broadridge’s ProxyVote digital platform (ProxyVote.com) as part of Vanguard Investor Choice, the world’s largest retail proxy voting program. Investor Choice is the first and only index fund proxy voting program currently available via ProxyVote.com.
ProxyVote.com provides a significantly streamlined process, making it easier than ever for individual investors and advisors who hold Vanguard funds through third-party brokerage platforms to participate in Investor Choice.1
Vanguard believes that equity index fund investors should have a greater say in how their portion of the Vanguard equity index funds they own vote on public company proxy matters. Through Investor Choice, we are empowering individual investors, their advisors, 529 plans, and retirement plan sponsors to direct how their portion of participating equity index funds vote at company shareholder meetings through a single policy selection.
Tens of millions of individual investors already use ProxyVote.com to cast their proxy ballots for their individual securities. In March 2026, Broadridge enhanced the platform to support index fund proxy voting programs, offering a simplified way for investors to participate in Investor Choice regardless of their brokerage platform.
“We are excited to be the first asset manager to use this new digital experience. The platform will make it easier for even more Vanguard fund investors to participate in Investor Choice,” said David Reiner, head of Vanguard Investor Choice.
With the program’s latest fund expansion in 2026, Investor Choice is now available in 32 Vanguard funds and to approximately 22 million eligible investors, representing nearly $4 trillion in Vanguard assets under management.2
Each program iteration has focused on streamlining the experience for eligible investors, enabling them to select a straightforward, clear voting policy aligned with their preferences—regardless of the brokerage platform used to hold their Vanguard funds. Integrating Investor Choice into ProxyVote.com is a significant step toward expanding proxy voting access to our distributed base of individual equity index fund investors.
Whether you hold a Vanguard fund directly through a Vanguard brokerage account or at another firm, participation is simple.
For Vanguard brokerage clients, log in to your Vanguard brokerage account and choose a voting policy that aligns with your perspectives on the factors that drive long-term returns. Your policy selection will be applied to the funds in your Vanguard brokerage account that participate in Investor Choice.
For investors who hold Vanguard funds in an external brokerage account, visit the ProxyVote platform and use your email address to create or sign in to an existing account. Choose a voting policy that aligns with your personal preferences. Your policy selection will be applied to the funds in your external brokerage account that participate in Investor Choice.
No matter how you access Investor Choice, your policy selection will automatically be applied as additional Vanguard funds are added to the program.
