Nitin Tandon, Vanguard’s global chief information officer and managing director of IT, has been named to the 2025 Forbes CIO Next list, recognizing the top 50 technology leaders driving transformation across industries.
This recognition celebrates Tandon’s visionary leadership and the measurable impact of the entire IT division’s efforts as Vanguard continues to set the standard for innovation in financial services.
As global CIO since 2021, Tandon has led an enterprise-wide modernization strategy that set the stage for AI-powered innovation and has fundamentally reshaped how Vanguard serves our more than 50 million clients. Transforming our digital platforms and migrating nearly 90% of infrastructure to the cloud has boosted our agility, scalability, and resilience while drastically cutting downtime and accelerating delivery. We use AI and machine learning in our client experience, investment management, and our advice engines. Vanguard’s Digital Advisor was ranked #1 robo-advisor by Morningstar, and innovative digital nudges have helped clients put $6.2 billion of idle cash to work, empowering them to pursue their long-term investment goals. Tandon has also championed a culture of experimentation and continuous learning, unlocking the collective excellence of Vanguard’s IT organization.
This honor represents how Vanguard remains a pioneer in digital transformation as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. Tandon and his leadership team’s relentless focus on modernization, AI-powered innovation, and measurable business outcomes will help Vanguard continue to thrive and deliver on our mission of helping investors achieve their financial goals—for the next 50 years and beyond.
The Forbes CIO Next list, now in its sixth year, highlights 50 top tech leaders driving transformation across industries. This year’s list celebrates innovators who have made a significant impact—with, of course, a focus on AI—extending beyond the chief information officer to include chief technology officers, chief information security officers, and other multifaceted tech executives.
