Home equity: A powerful tool for retirement security

For all baby boomers, the share of the population on track for retirement is 40% using net worth excluding home equity and 60% incorporating home equity. For the 0–29th percentiles, the share of the population on track for retirement is 15% using net worth excluding home equity and 42% incorporating home equity. For the 30th–69th percentiles, 36% are on track using net worth excluding home equity and 54% incorporating home equity. For the 70th–89th percentiles, 59% are on track using net worth excluding home equity and 78% incorporating home equity. For the 90th–99th percentiles, 92% are on track using net worth excluding home equity and 95% incorporating home equity.
