Step away from the transaction screen! Instead, Tom Rampulla, managing director of Vanguard Financial Advisor Services, explains the benefits of partnering with a financial advisor for a disciplined approach that’s not too expensive.
Tom Rampulla: Thank you, thank you, thank you. I could never be an actor. It’s like I talk to my kids: “Hey, that was great, but…” (laugh)
Question (on-screen): What’s a common misconception about financial advice?
Tom Rampulla: I think a common misconception around financial advice is that it’s expensive. I’d probably argue that it’s more expensive not to get financial advice because you can fall into the traps and pitfalls that many investors do—namely, letting emotion get in the way of reaching your financial goals and deviating from your financial plan.
And a good advisor, especially in times of turmoil, can take the edge off there, take the emotion out of it, and make sure you’re sticking with the plan and being disciplined. And that’s the best way to build long-term wealth.
Note: All investing is subject to risk, including the possible loss of money you invest.
