Diversity, equity, and inclusion

Vanguard’s accessibility options for both internal crew and external clients have earned the firm recognition as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion and a listing in the 2022 Disability Equality Index®.
Published annually, the index is a comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps companies build roadmaps of measurable, tangible actions that they can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality.
The index is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities, the nation’s largest disability rights organization, and Disability:IN, a global business disability inclusion network. Areas of focus include:
Many internal teams contributed to Vanguard’s efforts, including leaders who support accommodations and ensure accessible spaces and systems.
Our internal crew interest group Accessibility, Belonging, Leadership, and Empowerment (ABLE) strives to connect crew with disabilities, empower allies and caregivers, and educate the Vanguard community. The group launched in the U.S. with plans to expand to our international locations in the future.
The Disability Equality Index also recognizes teams that support external efforts. This means including diverse suppliers in Vanguard’s procurement program and ensuring websites and technology systems are accessible to clients.
Amber DeRosa, a Vanguard Accessibility Office manager, said, “When we take a stand for all investors, it is critical to ensure that Vanguard information, functionality, and services are accessible to all clients and crew regardless of visual, auditory, motor, color perception, and cognitive abilities.”
Vanguard achieved a score of 90 out of 100 in this inaugural year of recognition, and there are efforts already underway for further disability inclusion developments across the enterprise.
