Our year-round commitment to community

“It’s truly inspiring to witness the high level of enthusiasm and commitment among crew to serving our communities year-round,” said Aldustus (A.J.) Jordan, head of Community Stewardship. “In addition to our annual workplace giving campaigns, on any given day, they’re rolling up their sleeves and generously donating their time, financial resources, and expertise to enhance the lives of children and families” 

Many Vanguard crew members serve nonprofit organizations as board members, volunteer at food banks, teach financial literacy classes, and participate in a wide range of other activities.

In recognition of these efforts, Vanguard was named as a 2023 Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia honoree by the Philadelphia Foundation during an award ceremony on June 22.

“Earning a spot on the Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia list is an acknowledgment of our Community Stewardship team’s management of programs and activities that provide grants to local community organizations, invest in the wellbeing of children and families, and enable our crew to respond to personal or community crises as they arise,” said Vanguard Chief Diversity Officer Crystal Hardie Langston.      

The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia initiative, modeled after the national Points of Light program, provides a standard for superior corporate citizenship, and showcases how companies use their time, skills, and resources to drive social impact in their company and communities.
