30-year government bond yields

This line chart looks at the yields of 30-year government bonds from three countries—the United Kingdom, France, and Japan—between early 2020 and mid-September of 2025. The yields are generally low initially but show an increasing trajectory in late 2021 and continue to rise in subsequent years, though erratically. Between year-end 2021 and September 12, 2025, the yields rise from around 1% or less for all three countries to about 5.5% for the U.K., 4.3% for France, and 3.2% for Japan.
