Current CFO Michael Rollings to retire on June 30, 2025
VALLEY FORGE, PA (April 24, 2025) – Vanguard today announced the appointment of John Bendl as chief financial officer and managing director of its Finance division, responsible for Vanguard's finance functions, including investment product accounting and operations, corporate strategy, treasury, tax, and real estate. Mr. Bendl, 54, who currently leads the firm’s Financial Planning & Analysis and Enterprise Strategic Services functions, will join Vanguard’s senior leadership team effective July 1, 2025.

Since joining Vanguard in 2016, Mr. Bendl has held several leadership roles including CFO of the firm’s International division responsible for supporting Vanguard’s business spanning the Americas, Australia, Asia, and Europe. He has also served in a variety of officer and executive roles with respect to Vanguard and the Vanguard Funds, including service as the Vanguard Funds’ CFO as well as chief accounting officer and treasurer of Vanguard.
Prior to joining Vanguard, Mr. Bendl spent more than 20 years at KPMG, including as partner in the financial services practice at KPMG US. Mr. Bendl earned a B.S. in business administration from West Virginia University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Michael Rollings, 61, Vanguard’s current chief financial officer, will retire on June 30, 2025, after a distinguished 40-year career in financial services. Mr. Rollings joined Vanguard in 2016 from MassMutual Financial Group. After starting his career in banking in New York City, Mr. Rollings joined MassMutual in 2001 to lead the firm's Capital Markets division and was named executive vice president and CFO in 2006.
